Wind Gives Wings to Flames
Spring fire concerns are approaching, whether we’re ready or not. Please make sure you aren’t the one who brings a wildfire to your neighborhood.
If you are burning debris, take precautions:
• Keep a charged hose and shovel nearby
• Do not burn on windy days
• Only light what you can quickly extinguish if winds pick up
• Never leave a burn unattended
• Before leaving, ensure the pile is completely cold to the touch
• Check the pile over the following week to ensure it stays out
Debris burning is currently allowed, but if fuels dry out quickly we ask everyone to use caution and closely monitor their burns.
Firewood permits for Shanda Timberlands and Gilchrist State Forest are now valid. Please follow all permit instructions.
Residents of Wagon Trail Ranch, Little River Ranch, and Old Howard Estates should follow burning guidelines from La Pine Rural Fire Protection District.
Fire season restrictions for industrial operations are no longer in place, and outdoor debris burning is allowed without a permit. However, burning slash from forest harvesting operations still requires a permit year-round.
Let’s work together to keep our communities safe this spring.
